Itinerary

FIRST DAY CUSCO (3,300 m.a.s.l) – CALCA (2,925 m.a.s.l) – LARES (3,100 m.a.s.l) – HUACAHUASI. (3,750 m.a.s.l)

We will leave Cusco quite early and we will go towards the Sacred Valley of the Incas, passing the province of Calca, then we will arrive to Lares to the thermal baths which is at 3,250 m.a.s.l / 10,662 ft. In this place we will have a free time to enjoy the thermal baths from 28 C° to 34 C°. After lunch we will start walking for 3 hours and half until we reach our camp in Huacahuasi, which is at 3,700 m.a.s.l / 12,139 ft. In this place people produce very fine fabrics and we can observe their great skills and brilliant techniques in the manufacture of ponchos and clothing.

SECOND DAY: HUACAHUASI – IPSAYCOCHA (4,400 m.a.s.l) – PATACANCHA – (3700 m.a.s.l)

Very early in the morning we will start walking, passing the village we will begin to ascend until the second pass named Abra de ipsay which is at 4,100 m.a.s.l / 13,451 ft. From this place we will observe an amazing view towards the Veronica’s snowfall (5,750 m / 18,865 ft). We will descend approximately one hour until we reach the beautiful lagoon of Ipsaycocha which is at (4,400 m / 14,436 ft), where our lunch will be ready for us. After lunch we will descend through the valley to reach the community of Patacancha after Patacancha, we will continue to Ollantaytambo where is going to be the last night of camping.

THIRD DAY: OLLANTAYTAMBO (2,800 m.a.s.l) – CHACHABAMBA (2,250 m.a.s.l) – MACHU PICCHU (2,490 m.a.s.l)

Very early in the morning we will pick you up from your hostel, for going to the train station in Ollantaytambo (Sacred Valley); we will depart by train towards km. 104 km, where the walking begins. Then we will visit the archaeological complex of Chachabamba located at 2,250 m././7,382 ft. there the agricultural products were obtained to be taken to Machu Picchu. After that, we will continue the trek to Wiñay Wayna (2,700 m / 8,858 ft) where we will arrive approximately 3 and a half hours later. On the way we will observe beautiful views of the Urubamba River and we will have the opportunity to appreciate different types of semi-tropical forest orchids. In Wiñay Wayna we will stop to visit this important archaeological center. After lunch we will continue the trek to Machu Picchu, where we can appreciate at a distance from the Inti Punku (The sun gate). Then we will continue to the historic sanctuary of Machu Picchu Once finished, we will go down by bus to the town of Aguas Calientes (2,160 m / 7,087 ft) where we will stay in a comfortable hostel.

FOURTH DAY: MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO

After breakfast we will board the bus to Machu Picchu (2,490 m.a.s.l / 8,169 ft), very early to enjoy the sunrise in this beautiful place before the arrival of other tourists from Cusco. Guided tour of approximately 2 and half hours followed by free time to enjoy this new wonder of the world independently, if you wish you can visit Wayna Picchu (it is not included in the tour). Then we will go down by bus to Aguas Calientes to take our train to ollantaytambo where our driver will be waiting us with a private vehicle to take us to our hotel in Cusco (arrival at night).
